Approximately 21% of the Sierra Vista’s population is 55 and older. This doesn’t include retirees who often vista the community, spending their summer housed within the dynamic, picturesque location.
Retirees love the mild weather in Sierra Vista. During the winter months, the City benefits from our warm southern locale and in the summer, the 4,500-foot elevation along with the summer monsoons make for a cool climate. Sierra Vistians enjoy an annual average high temperature of 77 °F and a low of 49 °F.
Within the city, there are two communities that are hubs for active adults, Winterhaven and Vista View Resort.
Winterhaven is a gated 55+ community surrounding a golf course with access to two private community clubhouses, each with an outdoor pool, exercise room and many other amenities. The Pueblo Del Sol Country Club and Golf Course offers a variety of memberships and an 18-hole championship course. Vista View Resort comprises new construction homes along with a clubhouse, gym, pool and RV parking.
Residents and visitors alike enjoy a number of outdoor activities including hiking in the local Huachuca Mountains, bird watching and golf along with miles and miles of multi-use paths. For those interested in indoor activities, the City’s Leisure Services offers classes and programs specifically developed for active adults. And, if that’s not enough, Sierra Vista has a variety of shopping and eating establishments, a local library and much, much more.
